Highly personalized care.

When you come in for your initial appointment, Dr. Bohning will review your referral form (if you were referred by your general dentist) and your health history. He will then conduct an examination and look at the results of your digital X-rays. These use up to 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays and can be magnified for superior visualization. Next, your treatment options will be explained in simple, easy-to-understand terms so you have a complete understanding of your dental needs.

Why is endodontic treatment needed?

Endodontic procedures help preserve teeth that have an infected or inflamed pulp. Causes of infection or inflammation include trauma, deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth or a crack or chip in the tooth. If left untreated, these can cause pain or lead to tooth abscess and tooth loss.

Offering today’s latest endodontic advances.

Dr. Bohning uses a variety of endodontic advances, including electronic apex locators (the most accurate way to determine root canal length), minimal-vibration handpieces, diamond-coated ultrasonic equipment, nickel-titanium single-use files and biocompatible materials and sealants. He also uses special rinses that promote deep cleaning and disinfection of tooth canals. Dr. Bohning performs the following endodontic procedures:

Root canal therapy — to remove infected or inflamed tooth pulp. Most root canals are performed in just one office visit.
Root canal retreatment — to address a new infection in a tooth that was previously treated with root canal therapy.
Apexification — to treat a traumatized or immature tooth to produce more favorable conditions for root canal therapy.
Internal bleaching of nonvital teeth — to turn up the brightness of nonvital teeth that are discolored due to inflamed pulp tissue or from staining agents that are present in the pulp tissue.
Dental post placement & core buildup — to strengthen and protect a tooth that has undergone root canal therapy and provide maximum strength and stability for a tooth restoration.

Catering to your total comfort.

The comfortable, professional atmosphere at either of Bohning Endodontics’ two offices will be evident the minute you walk through the door. Each is a warmly appointed facility that makes you feel right at home. Treatment rooms are large and open and feature large windows with relaxing views. You’ll be happy to know that Dr. Bohning uses extra-gentle numbing techniques. And if you’re anxious or nervous about going to the dentist, nitrous oxide is available. There’s even complimentary bottled water, soft drinks, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
